People love to try out new experiences. It can be new products, new jobs, or new cars, etc. It gives them a sense of excitement. It also lets them forget about their problems, at least for the time being.
What if you could try something new to the point where the time takes over your obsession with the past? That would require a long-term commitment such as a few months or longer. One great way to approach this is to start a new business.
Traditionally, you would need to quit your current job, obtain capital for the business, and then hope for the best as far as whether customers would come and then buy. The odds are against start-up businesses, and many fail before the first year is over.
You don’t have to give up your job to start a business these days. You can start one online and even have others run it for you. However, the entire point of creating something was to take your mind off the past. After your new business is successful, you can choose to outsource some of the more mundane aspects. But, initially, take on the management of the business to keep you busy and to learn how to run a new business.
Don’t fall into the trap that just because a business is online means that it’s easy to be successful. There is a lot of competition, and it’s growing. You also have to drive traffic to your online business and offer products to sell. It is easier than running a brick-and-mortar business, but there are still plenty of challenges confronting you.
If you decide to run your new business while keeping your old job, you will need to allocate time. It is simply too easy to let time spent on the online business slip. What is the harm if you don’t work on it day here or a day there? The problem is you will never get it off the ground if you don’t commit to it. After all, the whole reason for creating this business is to help you let go of the past. Therefore, commit and come up with a list of long-term and short-term goals.
This way, you have a fighting chance of making it work. Without these goals, you have virtually no chance.
You also need to believe in your business. Like any new venture, people start out enthusiastic, but the excitement wanes as soon as the going gets tough.
