Are you dressing like you were twenty years ago? When was the last time you went clothes shopping? Do you feel that your clothes are holding you back? The truth is that how you dress affects how others perceive you. If you don’t have the look that seems connected, you could be missing out on opportunities.

You only get one chance for an impression with everyone you meet. They will size you up quickly and determine if they want to accept you. Sometimes, they have no choice as they may work with you. But, you will still make an impression. If there is a promotion up for grabs and someone in your group has any influence on who to choose, giving off the wrong impression could cost you.

Some people appear as though they don’t care what others think or say. They believe people should accept them for who they are or how they dress. While in concept this may be true, in reality, there isn’t much to it. People judge. It’s harsh but it’s the truth.

First impressions can affect your dating life as well. If you meet a potential suitor and he or she feels you don’t care about your looks, you won’t have much of a chance of getting a date. You may find some people who share your lack of commitment to looks. However, there is no guarantee these people will be compatible with you. They share that aspect with you, but that doesn’t mean they will be a fit. There are other factors to consider.

You should always dress appropriately for your age, even if your clothes are a bit out of style. People try to recapture their youth and wear tight-fitting clothes that might look ok on younger people. If you dress inappropriately, others will pick up on this and view you as out of touch. It carries to other areas of your life.

If you have trouble finding clothes that fit well and are with the times, consider hiring a personal stylist. These professionals can help you find the right look to make you more professional or to help you in your dating life. They may seem expensive at first glance. However, when your career skyrockets as a result of your new look, or you are dating the person of your dreams, you won’t even think about the cost. In fact, you will believe you got the better end of the deal.
