cinnamon-92594_1280A type 2 diabetes verdict can be overwhelming and frightening. Yet despite the great need to make adjustments to your lifestyle and diet, the idea of change can oftentimes generate the same feelings as your diagnosis. Keep in mind it’s important to not make any drastic modifications in order to avoid larger health issues. Instead, while you work with your physician to get a plan in place for easing into your healthier life, ask him or her about incorporating the following homeopathic treatments to help see quicker results.

Cinnamon. A 2003 study funded in part by the University Grants Commission of NWFP Agricultural University, Peshawar, Pakistan, found that when individuals with type 2 diabetes took up to six grams of cinnamon daily for 40 days, they reduced their glucose, triglyceride and cholesterol levels.

Fenugreek seed. Results of a clinical trial study, conducted by the Infectious Diseases Research Center, Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, Isfahan, Iran, and published in 2009, showed a 25% and greater decrease in fasting blood sugar, triglyceride and cholesterol levels when fenugreek seeds were soaked in hot water and consumed for eight weeks.

Cloves. A 2006 project funded by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan suggests that taking one to three grams of cloves per day for 30 days could lower glucose, triglyceride and cholesterol levels in type 2 diabetes patients. In a separate study, researcher James Hargrove, Ph.D., found that, out of the various spices and herbs his team tested, ground cloves proved to be the most effective anti-inflammatory.

While a balanced diet and exercise is certainly the best path to a healthier life, it’s obvious that certain seeds and spices can play a big role in improving the outlook of type 2 diabetes. However, as mentioned before, please consult with a physician to ensure any of these above or others are taken within moderation.
